Jane Addams 150th Birthday Gala
Stay tuned for information on how to register for Jane Addams' 150th Birthday Gala to be held on Saturday, September 25, 2010!
The evening will celebrate Jane Addams, who entered previously unknown social areas and male-dominated professions, faced untold challenges, and reached exceptional levels of achievement and who was the first American woman to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
In addition, other events will be taking place to celebrate our founder's birthday in September:
Jane's PARTY IN The plaza (September 8)
We are celebrating Jane Addams with a Birthday Bash at Daley Plaza on Wednesday, September 8th! A drum line from our Hearst Elementary Community School will kick off the party, and a Jane Addams actress will blow out a birthday cake with 150 candles!
Jane Addams symposium (September 16)
Please join us on Thursday, September 16 for the Jane Addams Symposium. Julie L. Biehl, Director of the Children & Family Justice Center of the Northwestern Universtiy School of Law, is the Keynote Speaker. We also will present Sylvia Puente, Vanessa Rich and Bernarda Wong with the Jane Addams Women of Valor Award.
